Drivers warned about carriageway closures

DRIVERS using the M6 near Warrington are being reminded that occasional overnight carriageway closures will start tonight (Tuesday, December 8) as narrowed lanes and a 50mph speed limit are introduced at the start of a £14.5 million improvement programme.
The project, which was unveiled last month, will see roadworks between Junction 20 at Lymm Services and Junction 19 at Knutsford for bridge repairs and new safety barriers.
The work, due to be completed in early 2017, was due to start last Friday but was delayed because of the weekend’s severe weather.
All the overnight closures will take place between 11pm and 5am each night.
The full list of forthcoming overnight closures includes:
*Tonight, northbound M6 between junctions 18 at Holmes Chapel and 19 at Knutsford (includes closure of northbound Knutsford services)
•Wednesday night (December 9) southbound between junctions 19 and 18 (includes closure of southbound Knutsford services)
•Saturday (December 12 and possibly Sunday, December 13), southbound between junction 20 at Lymm Services and junction 19.
•Monday, (December 14 and possibly Tuesday, December 15), northbound between junctions 19 and 20.
All the work is weather dependent.  Advance warning signs will be in place to advise road users of the closures, and diversion routes will be clearly signed.
