POLICE are warning people to be extra vigilant after the discovery of three “skimming” devices at cash machines in the Warrington area during the past few days.

At 8:15pm last night(Sunday) a skimming device was removed from the ATM at the Natwest Bank Warrington Road Culcheth, Warrington.

This is the third device found in the last few days in Warrington.

A police spokesperson said: “When using cash machines be vigilant and check the card slot prior to using the machine, the plastic cover should just pull out with a wire connected if it is being skimmed, also make sure you conceal your PIN when using the keypad.

“If your card is retained for any reason, firstly don’t walk away until you have tried to establish if the card slot is easily pulled out and make contact with the bank.

“Always check who is around you when using an ATM.”
