Serious collision involving bus and car at Culcheth

UPDATED: POLICE are hunting for the driver of a car involved in a serious collision with a bus at Culcheth, near Warrington, which left the driver trapped and being airlifted to hospital.

The collision, involving an empty school bus took place at  7.21am today   (November 4) when emergency services were called to a collision involving a bus and a car in Holcroft Lane, Culcheth.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue  worked closely with paramedics to release the driver of the bus who was later airlifted to hospital. There were no passengers on board the vehicle.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the driver of the car involved, a red Vauxhall Corsa made off on foot across nearby fields. It is not known if the driver was injured. Any sightings in the area contact police.

The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene but is now re-opened
