Anti-fracking demonstration at Helsby

ANTI-fracking protesters staged a demonstration outside a meeting of Helsby Parish Council, amid increasing concerns over seismic tests being carried out in the area.
Up to 50 banner-carrying demonstraters were present outside the meeting at Helsby Hillside Primary School.
Some attended the meeting – after councillors relented after initially said this would not be permitted.
Adrienne Baines, spokeswoman for the group, said their concerns were not addressed by the council, despite the fact that they had been raised previously at a meeting of the environment committee in August.
She said worried residents were wanting more information about the likelihood of fracking taking place in Helsby and on Frodsham Marshes.
Two public meetings have been organised to enable members of the public to learn more about the issue.
On October 28 a meeting is being held at The Eccies, Mountain View, Helsby while on November 4 there will be a meeting at Frodsham Community Centre.
Both meetings start at 7.30pm.
