CALLANDS Community Primary School head teacher Lisa Wigglesworth has stepped in to dance the Salsa at Strictly St. Rocco’s after a fellow contestant was forced to stand down for medical reasons.

Lisa is replacing Nicky Parkinson, head teacher at Park Road Primary School, and will be spending the next few months throwing herself into training for the popular fundraising event in December.

Lisa, who has no previous dancing experience, said: “We lost one of our pupils to cancer in September 2013, and seeing what the family went through – and is still going through – makes me keen to do something that will help others in similar situations. I’m incredibly nervous, as this is really taking me out of my comfort zone, but I’m a perfectionist who doesn’t do things by halves so I’m looking forward to giving it my all.”

Meanwhile Warrington-based retail recruitment company Zachary Daniels have confirmed their sponsorship of this year’s Strictly St. Rocco’s competition, which takes place on December 13 at the Mere in Knutsford.

The recruitment specialists, headed up by Zac Clements and Danny Monfea, are helping cover the costs of staging the event, meaning all sponsorship raised by dancers will go directly to helping the Hospice deliver its care.

Zac, who is also a Trustee of the charity, said: “St. Rocco’s is a charity close to all of our hearts at Zachary Daniels, and as a Warrington-based business, we are proud to be supporting such a fantastic organisation. We’re all looking forward to the event in December and I may even be inspired to put on my dancing shoes myself next year!”
