The sun shone for village walking day

THE sun shone and everything was perfect for the annual Stretton Walking Day – the first attended by the Rev Alan Jewell as vicar of St Matthew’s Church.
Rose Queen Louise Mann was crowned in a ceremony at the church and then, with retiring Rose Queen Ellen Osborne, led the procession to the school field where there was a wide range of fun activities for all the family.
There were mini-fairground rides, beat the goalie, coconut shy, bouncy castle, face painting, donkey rides, fun tattoos and a wide range of stalls selling cakes, books, toys, sweets, etc.
The Wi were selling garden plants, there was a barbecue, ice cream, lucky dip, etc.
Stretton Walking Day has been an annual feature of village life for more than 40 years and as usual attracted hundreds of local people.
