Ex-councillors proposed as honorary aldermen

TWO former members of Warrington Borough Council will be proposed as Honorary Aldermen at an extraordinary meeting of the council on Monday
Ex-Mayor Celia Jordan (above) was a member of the council  representing Stockton Heath for 28 years before deciding to stand down at the May elections.
Former leader of the council Ian Marks (right) lost his seat at Lymm in the elections after first being elected in 1983.
ianmarks.jpgBoth are Liberal Democrats – and both continue to serve on their respective parish councils.
Mrs Jordan was awarded the MBE in 2005 and was Mayor of Warrington in 2007. A former home economics teacher at Sir Thomas Boteler High School and Priestley College, she has been chairman of Stockton Heath Parish Council on several occasions.
Mr Marks has been a member of Lymm Parish Council since 1979 and has stood as a Parliamentary candidate on three occasions. He was leader of the borough council from May 2006 until May 2011 and has been chairman of Lymm Parish Council on several occasions.
Leader of the borough council Terry O’Neill is to propose a motion at the extraordinary meeting of the council on Monday that they both be given the title of Honorary Alderman.  The motion will be seconded by deputy leader of the council, Mike Hannon.
