Warrington Town bid to create more F.A Cup history

WARRINGTON Town travel to Gateshead at the weekend bidding to create history as the lowest ranked team ever to get through to the 3rd round proper of the world famous F.A Cup.
They will be cheered on by around 1,000 fans who are travelling up to the North East for the game against a team currently lying seventh in the National Conference.
While the home side will be favourites the game holds no fear for Warrington after their first round heroics against League Two Exeter City.
Manager Shaun Reid and Chairman Toby Macormac went on a scouting mission on Tuesday night as Gateshead recorded their first win in the conference since November 1 with a 2-1 win at lowly Alfreton.
Reid (pictured right) said: “Alfreton showed them respect and so will we but I’m going to make sure we get right up in their faces.
“It’s going to be a tough ask for my players as the pitch was a great leveller against Exeter at our place. Gateshead have a decent surface and look to get the ball down and pass it but don’t underestimate what we can do with the ball either.
“The pressure is all on them.”
Warrington will be at near full strength with only strikers Ben Wharton (injured) and Steven Tames (cup-tied) absent.
But they are bolstered by recent new signing, prolific goal scorer Lee Gaskell, who opened his account for the club in their 3-0 win at Ossett Albion last Saturday and the return of talisman Craig Robinson, (pictured top) who scored the all important goal against Exeter, who has completed a two match ban.
Chairman Macormac (pictured left) added:”It is going to be a tough ask but the lads know they have another great opportunity to create history.
“The team has been preparing well and will be travelling up the day before and staying in a hotel.
“We will be going up there to do a job and it will be a great experience for everyone connected with the club.”
A convoy of four “official” coaches will be leaving Warrington at 8am on Sunday morning, with a number of others setting off from pubs and clubs in the town.
Warrington supporters will be housed in the North End of the East Stand and will enter the Stadium via turnstiles 12, 13 & 14.
They are asked to enter the grounds of the stadium via the all weather pitch entrance located at the bottom of Neilson Road and the junction with Tyne Main Road.
On leaving the East Stand at the end of the game all Warrington supporters will be directed onto the all weather pitch and into Neilson Road. Coach pick up can be either on the stadium side of Neilson Road or Tyne Main Road.
*Police notice: Please note that coaches must not park in Neilson Road other than for drop off and collection and must not return to Neilson Road for pick up any sooner than 13:45hrs.
