PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for extensions at the town’s Walton Lea Crematorium.
Members of the borough council’s planning committee approved the scheme at the second time of asking after calling for further information.
The extension will enable existing offices and the reception area to be increased in size
The single-storey extension will increase the footprint of the building by 90 square metres – a modest extension, according to planning officers.
Although the site is within the Green Belt, the building is contained within mature woodland and cannot be seen from outside the grounds of the crematorium.
Officers say although the crematorium is set within the wider Walton Hall estate, there will be no significant impact on the estate, nor on the setting of Walton Hall and its associated gardens.
Crematorium extension approved
