AN experimental traffic order banning vehicles from parking in Warrington’s town centre Hilden Square unless they are loading or unloading is to be introduced from June 26.
This follows concerns expressed by local councillors and businesses about vehicles being parked on Hilden Square restricting the movement of pedestrians and general access for permitted vehicles.
The temporary order will designate Hilden Square from its junction with Sankey Street to its junction with Regent Street as a loading/unloading area.
It will remain in force for a period not exceeding 18 months.- but the council will then consider whether it should continue in force indefinitely.
Any vehicle entering Hilden Square must only stop to load or unload and civil enforcement officers will be able to take action against any vehicle unless they see loading or unloading taking place.
Objections or other representations must be sent to the council’s legal services department within six months of the experimental order coming into force.
