PLANS to open a first floor licensed bar above a small shopping complex are being opposed by two Warrington councillors.
The proposals, which involve property adjoining the former Cross Bar pub in Lovely Lane, Bewsey will come before the borough council’s planning committee on Wednesday.
A report to the committee states that work has already started on part of the project. The building was damaged by fire in 2011.
Cllr Pat Wright and Cllr Steve Parish have objected on the grounds the development would create a noise problem for adjacent buildings, there would be a lack of parking space, a loss of storage space for shops which already have planning consent and a risk of fire.
The area proposed for use as a licensed bar currently has permission for use as storage space.
Officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
