FOODBANKS in Warrington and neighbouring towns have been given hundreds of pounds worth of food – thanks to health service workers.
Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust asked staff to put a few extra tins of food, packets of pasta and cartons of juice in their shopping baskets to help those most in need this Christmas.
Collection points were set up across the Trust where staff could make their donations and as a result of their efforts boxes full of goods have been were delivered to local food banks.
Trust chief executive Dr Kate Fallon said: “From health visitors to walk-in centre staff and district nurses to community matrons, our
frontline staff provide regular care and support to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
“With the weather getting colder, we know some of these people may be facing a crisis this Christmas and will be turning to food banks for help. I am very proud of the generosity shown by our staff in supporting the great work being carried out by our local food banks.
“I hope the food we have donated will help to make a real difference to people’s lives over the festive period.”
