Winter road safety campaign success

A CAMPAIGN that saw more than 3,000 advice packs handed out to help keep drivers safe this winter has been hailed a success.
As part of a winter weather campaign, the council’s road safety went out and about across the borough to both public places and business giving advice, and the packs were very well received.
Cllr Linda Dirir, executive board member for highways, transportation and climate change, said: “The packs were exceptionally well received by drivers, and this is reflected in some of the comments received while carrying out the events.
“In addition to the packs the team spoke to drivers about preparations for winter driving, where to check for weather and road conditions, tyre safety including pressures and depth, what to carry in your boot in case of an emergency and also general road safety advice.
“I am glad that this went well and the service will continue to offer advice and support to help keep us all safe during the winter period.”
