Growing moustaches for charity

CHARTERED accountants David Watkinson and Margaret Black are particularly busy in the period leading up to Christmas – but that has not stopped them taking part in “Movember” to raise money for charity.
The initiative involves growing moustaches during November to raise money to support the fight against prostate and testicular cancer.
There are no prizes for guessing how she did it, but Margaret seems to have defeated David in the moustache growing stakes.
But between them – and with help from a friend, Ray Pearson – they have raised almost £2,000.
Margaret said: “It has been great fun, but I have received some odd looks, particularly when I visit a local high school for whom we act as auditor, and when I went shopping in a supermarket.
It is the second year David has taken part in Movember. Last year he raised more than £1,200.
He said: “We are grateful to all the clients and colleagues who have contributed. I will be pleased to be rid of the hairy growth.
“Now we are buckling down to get everyone’s tax returns submitted by the end January”.
WatkinsonBlack operate from Manchester Road, Warrington.
