EMERGENCY services were alerted today after reports that someone had fallen in the Mersey near Bridge Foot, Warrington.
A police helicopter swooped over a length of the river and the Fire Service launched its rescue boat. Police officers were also searching the river banks.
Cheshire Fire & Rescue later confirmed it had been a “false alarm with good intent,” after reports that someone had been seen in the water waving their hands.
