POLICE and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire John Dwyer has met with the Chief Constable and senior officers of the Constabulary to scrutinise police performance against the objectives set in his Police and Crime Plan.
He said: “An important part of my role is to hold the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the public. I do this regularly at meetings which are open to the public.
“I am delighted to announce that there have been over 1,000 fewer victims of crime in the last six months since my Police and Crime Plan was produced. This shows that the plans that I’ve drawn up are having an impact and the Constabulary are continuing to make Cheshire a safe place to live and work.
“I was also pleased to discover that 89 per cent of victims were satisfied with the service they received from the Constabulary. As a result Cheshire is currently the fourth highest force in the country with regards to public satisfaction.
“The data showed that in September, the number of recorded crimes fell to its lowest level for many years. There was also a 16 per cent reduction in the number of re-offenders compared to last year.
“This demonstrates the success that the Constabulary and partner agencies are having in providing crime prevention advice; as well as tackling prolific offender and ensuring they are getting the support they need to stop them returning to a life of crime.
“I would like to thank the Constabulary for their hard work and dedication in achieving these fantastic results. However, I believe there is no room for complacency and will continue to work in partnership with the Chief Constable to keep cutting crime and to deliver the objectives within my Plan.”
