TWO masked men got away with cash from an off-licence at Warrington after threatening two shop assistants.
The raid was at a Bargain Booze store in Warrington Road, Penketh at 7.10pm on Sunday (October 27).
Police today issued an appeal for witnesses of the incident.
The two assistants were stacking shelves in the shop when they heard the buzzer for the door sound. One assistant walked over to deal with what she assumed to be a customer.
But she was confronted by two men wearing balaclavas who demanded that the safe be opened.
When this wasn’t possible, they threatened the two assistants and took money from the till. She came across two offenders who demanded the staff open the safe. When this wasn’t possible, the men threatened the staff and demanded money from the till before running off.
One man was about 5ft 9 inches tall, of normal build in his late 20s or early 30s. The second was slightly smaller at around 5ft 5 inches, and also of normal build and about the same age.
DC Rebecca Dixon said: “The two shop assistants were left shocked by the incident but thankfully were not hurt.
“We are currently checking CCTV and carrying out enquiries in the area to trace the offenders. We would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw suspicious activity, or if they have any information that may help us with our enquiries, to contact us.”
