A YOUNG couple’s honesty spared a bride groom’s blushes when he lost the all important wedding rings as he prepared to tie the knot at Warrington’s Walton Hall.
Lindsey and Ged Wyatt were looking forward to a ceremony outdoors in the beautiful bandstand in Walton Gardens surrounded by family and friends.
One of the features for them was Ged’s traditional Wiccan handfasting ring which was designed especially for him, while Lindsey’s ring was also unique and the result of much deliberation.
Around twenty minutes before the ceremony was due to start Ged and Chris, his Best Man, realised that they couldn’t find the box with the rings in.
After lots of head scratching, and going over their movements since leaving Ged’s mum’s house in Woolston, Ged decided he must have left them in the pocket of the jacket he wore that morning and had simply forgotten them.
With insufficient time for anyone to go back and pick them up they decided that the only real option was to borrow a couple of rings for the ceremony and have someone go and collect them afterwards. Rings were duly borrowed and Chris, the Best Man, explained the situation to Lindsey when she arrived in the Bridal car.
The ceremony began with a very embarrassed Groom apologizing to his Bride for somehow forgetting the rings.
On hand to capture the moments local wedding photographer Jim Hunter explained: “As they were signing the register a young couple arrived and spoke with one of the ushers explaining that they had found a box with two rings in and, putting two and two together, decided they probably belonged to the wedding they saw taking place.
“By the time the register was signed and photos taken Lindsey and Ged were wearing their wedding rings and what could have been a very costly and disappointing day was saved by the honesty of a young Warrington couple out enjoying a walk in a local park with their little daughter,” added Jim.
The couple, Steve Preston and Nicole Harney duly posed for a photo with the happy Bride and Groom as they expressed their gratitude and thanked them for their honesty.
The ring box had fallen unnoticed from Ged’s pocket as he got out of the car on arrival at Walton Hall and not been spotted by anyone until Steve and Nicole came across it lying at the side of the path.
After their wedding Lindsey and Ged set off on a Mediterranean cruise for their Honeymoon.
