WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones and her son – Cllr Chris Vobe – officially opened Croft Pre-School’s new premises in the grounds of St Lewis’ RC Primary School.
The pre-school team – led by manager Helen Bennett – have moved into new purpose-built premises after three and-a-half years of fund raising.
This has given them a permanent home, after long periods spent operating in various buildings, including Croft Memorial Hall and St Lewis’ Parish Hall.
Ms Jones and Cllr Vobe met with staff, parents and youngsters before the MP unveiled a plaque to celebrate the opening – and joined manager Helen Bennett to plant a commemorative tree in the grounds of the Pre-School.
Cllr Vobe wrote a short passage about the opening ceremony in St Lewis’s “Log Book” – a book of collective memories about the history of the school which has been kept up to date with key events for 100 years.
Ms Jones said: “Croft Pre-School is an excellent example of successful co-operation between staff, volunteers from the local community, and the school who have worked together to make this happen. The Pre-School
provides a warm, welcoming environment for young children and I was delighted to be able to officially open their new building.”
Cllr Vobe – a former pupil at St Lewis’ – said: “The Pre-School in Croft is a very special facility which is a credit to our community.
“Helen Bennett and her team have worked tirelessly to ensure that their dream of purpose-built facilities became a reality.
“The investment by Warrington Borough Council and the Archdiocese in the new parking arrangements at
St Lewis’s have helped the team overcome some of the hurdles they faced with securing their own building on site. I was delighted to meet staff and parents at the opening and see how this great initiative
has flourished after their long journey.”
