Housing plan is held up

COUNCILLORS are to visit a piece of “green” land at Great Sankey, Warrington before deciding whether it can be developed for housing.
Members of the borough council’s planning committee were told of objections from nearby residents and local councillor Keith Gleave.
They are concerned about the loss of green space, increased traffic and parking problems and increased pressure on local services such as schools.
They believed the site, off Stockdale Drive, was too small to accommodate the six houses proposed.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
They point out that originally the plan was for seven houses.
The site is overgrown and unmanaged, with no public access
A report to the borough council’s planning committee states that originally the plan was for seven houses.
But one detached house has been deleted from the scheme, leaving six three-storey dwellings along the site frontage.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved. They say the site is overgrown and unmanaged with no public access. Perimeter fencing makes it inaccessible and it has insignificant value as an amenity space.
