Speciality beer bar gets go-ahead

A “CRAFT bar” – selling speciality beers – can open in a former video store, planners have decided.
They were told the bar, which would sell craft beers and real ales, from the former Blockbuster video store in Walton Road, Stockton Heath, would provide two full time and three part time jobs and add to the diversity of food and drink provision in the village.
Stockton Heath Parish Council had opposed the scheme on the grounds it would result in an unacceptable loss of a retail unit and damage the village shopping centre’s daytime economy.
They believed it would not add to the cultural provision in the village and be unsuitable for young people and children.
But planning chiefs said it was not the type of establishment that would attract “drunken yobs” and granted planning consent for a change of use.
