PUPILS and staff at Statham Primary School, Lymm are celebrating after being awarded a “Quality Mark” for good practice and performance in literacy and numeracy.
Assessors described pupils’ personal development as “excellent” and their learning behaviour as “exemplary” in their report.
The basic skills quality mark is a national award given to schools to recognise their provision, practice and performance in literacy and numeracy.
It provides a framework for self-evaluation and continuous improvement. A school must demonstrate a “whole school” approach to continuously improving standards, with evidence of the impact of its approaches.
The report says: “Provision for pupils’ personal development and well-being is excellent. Difference and diversity are clearly celebrated as demonstrated by displays throughout the school. There is a clear focus on social, emotional and spiritual development demonstrated.
“Across the school, children appear happy, confident and demonstrate excitement and enjoyment when learning. Their positive attitude is clearly evident and they are eager to learn. Children’s behaviour, particularly learning behaviour, is exemplary.”
Headteacher Sue Hall said: “We’re incredibly proud of our dedicated staff and our hardworking pupils so I’m delighted that all their efforts in literacy and numeracy have been recognised in this award.
“We are always looking for ways to continuously improve our provision and best practice in literacy and numeracy and this award shows that we have sustained this over a number of years.
“I know parents will enjoy reading the positive comments from the report as much as I did. Receiving this recognition has given a real boost to the start of the school year.”
