WINWICK-based Hollins Park Hospital will unveil a new nature trial this Sunday ( October 6) at a special open day – giving the public an opportunity to see works of art produced by people who have experience of mental ill-health.
Hollins Park Art Event, hosted by 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, will take place from 12noon to 4pm.
Visitors can look forward to a packed programme that includes music and poetry-reading; a scarecrow competition; wood-carving and willow art; an exhibition and sale of arts and crafts, and access to a permanent display of artworks around the hospital.
“There is a wealth of artistic talent among our patients that we believe deserves to be recognised and celebrated,” says Simon Barber Chief Executive of the Trust.
“That’s why we’re asking people to come and see our hospital; meet some of the people we care for; take a look at their artwork and enjoy the performances they have worked so hard to prepare.
“We’ve planned another inspiring, fun-filled afternoon of entertainment for all the family, and look forward to welcoming lots of visitors to our Trust.”
Among the many highlights of the day will be official opening of the new Nature Trail circling Hollins Park’s grounds. The winners of the staff and service user photographic competition will also be announced.
Refreshments will be on sale from the De La Mere Restaurant located on-site at Hollins Park, Hollins Lane, Winwick, WA2 8WA. Free car parking in the hospital grounds will also be available.
