A visit from Warrington Wolves’ hooker Micky Higham was the icing on the cake for Sarah Thompson as she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends.
She also received a visit from the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Peter Carey who joined in the birthday celebrations at Birch Court, Howley, today (Tuesday.)
Sarah, who moved to Warrington from Rothertham in Yorkshire when she was 18, also received her special telegram from the Queen.
She says the secret to long life is hard work and only retired from her cleaning jobs when she was 85!
A lover of Rugby League, she has been a widow for more than 40 years, husband Albert, died at the age of 56.
They had three children, Neville and Ruth, and Pauline who died when she was just 56, six grand children, nine great grand children and three great, great grandchildren.
