THE NSPCC’s service centre in Warrington has been awarded a yellow plaque during “Remember a Charity Week”.
It recognises the contribution made by people who leave gifts in their Wills, and was unveiled by Helen Lewandowska, project team manager at the Warrington Service Centre, and NSPCC legacy manager Rosanne Dick.
The NSPCC is one 140 charities urging people making a Will this week to take a moment to consider including a gift to charity. Last year the NSPCC received over £20 million from legacy gifts with £2.2 million of that coming from people in the North West region.
Rosanne said: “Gifts in Wills are so important in allowing us to continue to provide our vital services. Three quarters of Britons regularly give to charity in their lifetimes, yet only 6% include a charity in their Will.
“This Remember A Charity week, we’d like to ask everyone making or amending a Will to take a moment and think about including a donation to the NSPCC, once they have looked after family and friends.
“We would also like to invite local people to come along to our centre in Warrington on Thursday 17 October and find out more about how the NSPCC uses gifts in Wills to help protect some of the most vulnerable local children.”
Services provided from the NSPCC centre for local children and families is in part possible thanks to gifts left to the charity in Wills. The centre in Warrington launched its newly refurbished building in October 2012 and concentrates on delivering services for children under the age of one, children in care and services bringing advice and support to those children most at risk of abuse and neglect.
