Kitchen devastated by fire

FIRE today devastated the kitchen at a semi-detached house near Warrington.
The blaze was at a house in Elm Road, Hollins Green early this afternoon.
Fire engines from Warrington, Birchwood and Greater Manchester were called to the scene.
The house was empty at the time the fire broke out and fire crews arrived to find the kitchen well alight.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with hose reel jets and a main covering water jet.
It is believed the fire was started as a result of a linen basket being placed on the cooker and accidentally
turning on one of the hobs.
The alarm was raised by neighbours.
