Smith confirms Hodgson Okay!

WARRINGTON Wolves’ boss Tony Smith has confirmed full-back Brett Hodgson did not suffer any serious injury after being stretchered off
in a neck brace with a bloodied face against Widnes last night.
Hodgson was stretchered from the field in the closing minutes of the first half after catching Hep Cahill’s arm across his face after collecting a high ball. Cahill was instantly dismissed with a straight red by referee Phil Bentham.
Commenting on the injury Smith said”Hodge has got stitches on his nose and an ‘L’ shaped cut, but he is fine in terms of everything else.
“He has got his wits about him and all the parts of his anatomy that should be working, aside from his nose, are working.”
Smith believes there was no malice in the challenge and says it will be dealt with by the authorities.
“Both Hep and Denis were asking about him at half time and making sure that Brett was ok.”
Mewanwhile Smith was disappointed with his teams “atrocious” handling and his pledged there will be a much better team performance at St Helens in a fortnight after the enforced break for the wembley weekend.
“We have bounced back from performances like this in the past and I am sure we will again,” said Smith.
“I know the weather conditions and ball were the same for both teams, but it did not help the handling conditions. Widnes dropped a lot of ball as well but they executed a much better kicking game.”
Meanwhile five Widnes fans have been arrested following crowd trouble inside the ground.

  1. Glad to hear Brets OK. Tony says he’s “DISAPPOINTED” at the teams “atrocious” handling efforts, he needs to be 1 of the paying supporters to know the meaning. 11 new contracts to keep the team together will be GREAT if they learn the basics of keeping hold of a ball in tackles (schoolboy teaching) and before people say it was wet look at the increase in errors from the last 6 games.
