Teeing off for charity

THE Moore Foundation raised more than £2,500 for the Helsby Powered Wheelchair Appeal at its annual charity golf day.
The teams gathered at Warrington Golf Club at midday for a lunch and briefing session before embarking on the 18 holes and challenges that the charity set.
After an afternoon in the glorious sunshine, the players retired to the clubhouse for well deserved cold drinks and a 2 course dinner.
There was a prize presentation which included trophies for the winning team, a bottom place award, a bucket and spade for the player who spent the most time in the bunkers, as well as Beat the Pro, Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive awards.
The Foundation held a raffle and auction which included some fabulous prizes that had been donated by local companies, and players dug deep to really make a difference to the trust.
The event was brought to a close with a generous £2,500 cheque being presented by Chairman Nigel Garner to a representative of the Helsby Powered Wheelchair Appeal, to assist them in the purchase of a powered wheelchair for a child.
Nigel Garner, Chairman, said: “It was a brilliant day, enjoyed by all and we were extremely blessed with the brilliant weather. We were delighted to be able to provide Helsby Powered Wheelchair Appeal with the donation and we’re looking forward to hearing about the difference it will make to the beneficiary and their family. We’ve got other events on the horizon and I would encourage individuals and companies to find out about getting involved. I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the golf day and made it such a great, memorable event.”
The Moore Foundation is a charitable trust based in Cheshire and provides financial and practical relief to local children’s charities and worthy causes. The Foundation was established in 2005 when it was noted that suitable funding was slow to reach the smaller charitable organisations in the region, as well as many disadvantaged and disabled children being found to have unsuitable support equipment and treatment.
