Man rescued from blaze flat

A MAN was rescued from a smoke-filled first floor flat at Glazebury, near Warrington.
Fire crews from Birchwood, Leigh and Irlam went to the scene after a fire with people trapped was reported.
The blaze was at a flat in Warrington Road and involved a bedroom.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using two hose reel jets. A large industrial fan was used to disperse smoke.
A Fire Service spokesman said a smoke alarm was fitted at the premises and did activate.
The fire was caused by discarded smoking materials.
