A GANG of five smashed their way into a convenience store at Warrington and grabbed cash and cigarettes.
The raid was at the Spar Shop in Thelwall New Road, Grappenhall – and was captured on CCTV.
Police today released images from the CCTV and appealed for help from the public in a bid to trace the offenders.
A number of similar raids have been carried out across Cheshire and police are exploring the possibility they are linked.
The raid took place at about 11.40pm on Thursday August 8. The shop was closed at the time.
The raiders arrived in a black estate car, forced open the shutters at the front of the shop and smashed open the front door.
They climbed over the counter, forced open a cigarette cabinet and filled a duvet cover with cigarettes.
Then they entered a rear office, forced open a metal cabinet and stolen more cigarettes and cash before leaving in the same vehicle they had arrived in.
DC James Pulham said: “We are trying to piece together as much information as possible in a bid to identify the offenders. We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened or was in the area at the time and has seen the offenders fleeing the scene in a black estate vehicle – possibly an Audi A4 or similar.
“The vehicle drove off along Thelwall New Road towards Latchford. We are also keen to speak to anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the offenders.”
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 or call the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
