Walking for peace

A GROUP of business people and other members of the Warrington community are to take part in an inaugural 20k fund-raising walk around the town.
The walk will be called “The Peace of Mind – 20k Warrington Walk” and will be dedicated to the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace to mark the 20th anniversary of the IRA bombing atrocities at Warrington.
Organiser Peter Gilberts said: “Funds raised on this unique occasion will be donated to the Foundation’s local community projects that have been undertaken year on year from 1993 to the present day. Our contribution will help to keep this crucial work going.
“We are also asking for moral support in formally adopting this route as ‘The Peace of Mind Trail’ and for this inaugural 20k walk to become a major annual charity event on Warrington’s community calendar.
“It will be a great opportunity for other charities to share and benefit from next year onwards.”
The first walk will take place on Saturday September 14 from 8am-2pm, starting and finishing at the Peace Centre, off Cromwell Road, Great Sankey.
Anyone interested in joining should call 07900 266077 for further information.
