Help us win support for Walton Hall

THE people of Warrington are being urged to support a new bid to win support from the Heritage Lottery Fund for Walton Hall and Gardens.
Borough council chiefs are working with The Friends of Walton Estate on the bid, which if successful, will ensure the local history of the site is celebrated and protected in the future.
Cllr Kate Hannon (right), the council’s lead member for leisure, community and culture, said: “We know the whole community values Walton Hall and Gardens and so we are reaching out to them and asking for their support with this bid by completing a survey and telling us what they would like to learn about the site.
“There are many stories still to be told, from the lost botanical gardens at Walton to life on a model Victorian estate, but to unveil this history it is key the public have their say.
“Sadly there is no guarantee that our bid will be successful, but by working with the community, and building a solid case, we can demonstrate that Walton has significant historic value which we want to celebrate and share for many generations to come.
“To do this and to ensure a sustainable future for the hall and gardens we need the support of the whole community.”
Residents can visit www.warrington.gov.uk/consultations to show their support and have a say on what should be explored further. The closing date for the survey is Friday September.
An ongoing programme of works at the hall and gardens is continuing to revitalise the estate.
