Fire station's free open day

A WARRINGTON fire station is throwing open its doors to showcase the many ways firefighters and support staff work hard to help residents stay safe.
Stockton Heath Fire Station, on Ackers Road, will be open to the public on Sunday, August 11 between 11am and 4pm.
The free open day will offer plenty of interest – including crews re-enacting a rescue following a mock road accident.
There will also be a demonstration of how to deal with a chip pan fire and the rope rescue unit will be showing their skills with a height safety demonstration.
For the children there will be activities to keep them entertained including face painters, driving simulators and much more.
Ice cream, cakes and a barbecue will ensure no-one goes hungry.
Also at the event will be police, the ambulance service, the Fire Fighters Charity and Army, Navy and Air cadets and Warrington Wolves.
Organiser Firefighter Andy Jones said: “I think many people would be
surprised at just how much the modern fire and rescue service does to prevent and deal with emergencies. We’re really proud to have this opportunity to show the people of Stockton Heath and the surrounding area how their community fire station works hard to keep them safe.
