Boy, 15, escapes knifeman

A 15-year-old boy managed to escape when a man brandishing a knife tried to rob him in a Warrington alleyway.
Police are appealing for help from the public following the attempted robbery in an alleyway near Wellington Street, Howley on Saturday (August 3) at about 12.15am.
The offender approached the boy and demanded he hand over his mobile ‘phone.
But the youngster managed to run off towards Mersey Street.
Officers are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or was in the area around that time and saw anyone acting suspiciously to come forward.
They are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any information regarding the identity of the offender.
He is described as about six feet tall, of slim build with a local accent.
He is believed to be in his late teens and was wearing a black jacket with the hood pulled up over his face.
