MORE than 2000 tickets have been snapped up to watch the Happy Mondays on the opening night of the Warrington Music Festival.
The legendary Indie band will perform along with a host of other musical acts, and the free tickets were snapped up by 12 noon on Saturday.
At the front of the queue were Barbara Harrison, from Whitecross, and her daughter Jenny Harrison, from Bewsey.
Barbara said: “We got here around 6 o’clock for the Next sale, did some shopping first then got to the front of the queue. I think the Happy Mondays are absolutely brilliant. I’ve not seen them before so it’s a first and even better that it’s a free concert.”
Warrington Music Festival, now in its seventh year, is set to be a great event with multiple venues to choose from.
Ian Cox, General Manager at Golden Square, said: “The free ticket giveaway drew in die-hard Happy Mondays fans waiting outside the Old Market Place from 1am!
“The legendary headline act has certainly caused a stir this year, and this year’s Warrington Music Festival is looking to be the best yet.”
