Minister inspired by Disability Awareness Day

GOVERNMENT Minister Esther McVey heard first hand the issues being caused by controversial changes in the benefits system when she was special VIP guest at the annual Disability Awareness Day at Walton Hall and Gardens.
The Conservative MP for Wirral West and the minister for disabled people, said she had found the event, which once again attracted thousands of visitors, “truly inspirational.”
Glorious sunshine ensured bumper crowds turned out at the event organised by Warrington Disability Partnership – and the brainchild of the charity’s co-founder and Chairman Dave Thompson.
Sponsored by Your Housing, one of the largest social housing providers in the North West with a new HQ in Warrington, it was the 22nd year of the event which now has a truly international flavour – and probably the largest event of its
kind in the world.
Your Housing’s Regional Director Martin Stevens talked about the challenging times, caused by changes in benefits legislation, often referred to as “bedroom tax.”
The Minister responded admitting it was difficult times with some difficult decisions.

  1. Please tell me that Esther McVey is not a minister. It’s a joke surely?…. she couldn’t administer a tea party in a tea shop for heavens sake
