Decision day for tea room

COUNCILLORS at Warrington are to decide whether an unauthorised tea room can carry on trading in a disused farmhouse – after visiting the premises.
Members of the borough’s planning committee decided to visit the tea room at Dingle Farm, Dingle Lane, Appleton after hearing that Appleton Parish Council had objected to the development.
Now they will meet again on Wednesday to make a final decision.
Robert Bilton Estates Ltd are seeking retrospective planning permission for a change of use from a dwelling to a tea room, workshop/artist’s studio and gallery, and beauty treatment room.
More than 600 people have signed a petition supporting the tea room.
The parish council says Dingle Farm is on a blind bend, Dingle Lane is too narrow and the development will worsen traffic conditions adversely affecting road safety.
Planning officers are recommending the change of use be approved, however.
They say the continued use of the farm as a workshop, studio/gallery, tea room and beauty treatment room is acceptable and is providing a sustainable and appropriate form of development in the Green Belt which would not lead to significant harm to the amenity of nearby residents nor lead to any significant harm to highway safety.
