THE X99 bus service will help visitors get to Walton Hall and Gardens throughout the summer, Warrington Borough Council has announced.
Thanks to financial support from the council, the X99 will provide Sunday and August Bank Holiday bus services from the Warrington Bus Interchange to Walton Hall and Gardens between 21st July and 8th September 2013 inclusive.
The service will be operated by Network Warrington, with a modern low floor bus which is suitable for access by wheelchairs and pushchairs.
The service will depart from Warrington Bus Interchange every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. and every 30 minutes between 1.00 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The X99’s route has been changed for this year, operating via the Crematorium and Walton Lea Road to give improved access to Walton Hall and Gardens. The service will return from Walton Lea Road to Warrington every 30 minutes between 10.15 a.m. and 11.45 a.m. and every 30 minutes between 1.15 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. Many passengers will be able to purchase a day ticket for the wider network and interchange from buses serving other areas without paying further fares.
Councillor Linda Dirir, Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for transportation, said today: “It is with great pleasure that we can announce the re-introduction of a Sunday and August Bank Holiday service to Walton Hall and Gardens.
“The council is committed to promoting travel by sustainable means and we sincerely hope that people will use the service in large numbers to access Walton Hall and Gardens. We also hope that the service will prove beneficial to residents and visitors who wish to travel to the crematorium.”
David Boyer, the council’s assistant director of transportation, added: “We have an extensive range of events happening on Sundays at Walton Hall this summer as well as the pitch and putt, crazy golf and crown green bowling, not to mention the stunning parks, gardens and scenery to enjoy.”
