Cafe comes to charity's rescue

A LYMM café has come to the rescue after a charity group was forced to seek an alternative venue for a fund-raising “auction of promises” because the original venue appears to have closed down.
St Mary’s Pre-School originally planned to hold their event at the Marco Marco Italian restaurant in Rushgreen Road, Lymm on Wednesday (July 3)
But after hearing rumours the restaurant had closed and failing to get an answer to telephone calls, the group decided to seek an alternative venue.
The Terrace café, at The Cross, Lymm has agreed to host the event.
Pre-School spokeswoman Georgina Walker said: “We heard rumours the restaurant was having problems and was closed.
“We tried to contact them a number of times with no response.
“I had heard of a group who had booked a party at the weekend and were unable to get in.
“A decision was made this morning that we should try to find an alternative venue, sooner rather than later.
“I am delighted to say The Terrace have agreed to host the
event for us, and will provide canapés free of charge.
“How wonderful is that?
“The Pre-School relies on fundraising to keep going so we are so grateful to the Terrace for saving the day.”
The telephone at Marco Marco in Lymm is not being answered.
But a call to the Marco Marco restaurant in Northwich was answered by a man who said he understood the Lymm branch had been closed for some days and would be re-opening shortly under a different name.
Marco Marco opened in the former Farmer’s Arms pub at Lymm in February last year, with a lavish opening night attended by local VIPs including Warrington South MP David Mowat.
But it is understood to have changed ownership since then.
