Gangs raid two homes

POLICE at Warrington are exploring the possibility that two serious burglaries which occured within days of each other may be linked.
In both cases, a number of offenders smashed their way into houses at Burtonwood while the occupants were in.
The occupants suffered minor injuries in each case.
Burglary Number One was in Fairclough Street on Tuesday (June 18) and the second burglary was in Broad Lane two days later.
Detectives are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen suspicious in the area.
In the first incident, a 36-year-old man was asleep in the front room of his house around 1.30pm when he was awoken by a noise at the rear of the property.
He saw three men dressed in black outside the house, one smashing the back door with an axe in an attempt to get in.
They offenders then smashed a window and the householder suffered a cut to his nose from flying glass.
He fled from the front of the house leaving the intruders to ransack the property and escape with electrical goods.
The second incident on Thursday (June 20) was at about 12 noon.
Two men gained access to the property via an insecure back door and assaulted the 65-year-old man who was in the h ouse.
They took the keys to the victim’s red Jaguar and drove off in it. The victim had cuts and brusing to his face and went to Warrington Hospital for treatment.
The two offenders were in their 20s, of slim build and around 5 ft 7 inches tall.
DC Matt Gagen said: “To have your home invaded in this way is a frightening experience. Fortunately neither victim was seriously injured but they have been left very shaken by what has happened.
“We are currently exploring whether these two incidents are linked. A number of enquiries are being carried out locally including house-to-house enquiries, CCTV enquiries and any relevant forensic enquiries.
“We are appealing for anyone who has been in those areas around the time of the incidents and has witnessed what happened or has any information, which may help progress the investigations, to come forward. We are also urging anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the offenders to get in touch.”
