HOUSE of Commons Deputy Speaker Lindsay Hoyle – son of former Warrington MP Lord Hoyle – dropped into town to lend his support to Culcheth Labour campaigner Matt Smith.
More than 50 guests from across the town, including a number of councillors, joined Warrington North MP Helen Jones, Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft councillor Chris Vobe and the party’s candidate for next year’s borough council elections Matt Smith for a buffet meal at the China Rose restaurant.
In addition to speeches by Ms Jones and the chairman of Warrington North Labour Party, Cllr Graham Friend, Mr Hoyle spoke of the need to “build a better future” for residents across the town.
He spoke glowingly of the way in which local borough and parish councillors in north Warrington connect with their communities.
Speaking after the event, Ms Jones said: “I was delighted that my good friend Lindsay Hoyle was able to support the work that our councillors and members do in Warrington North by attending our ‘Chinese Night’. Lindsay has great links with Warrington and a sell-out audience was captivated by his accounts of his time in Parliament and as
Deputy Speaker.”
Matt Smith said: “It was a pleasure to join Helen in welcoming Lindsay Hoyle back to Warrington.
“People in Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft are better off with Labour and it was good to hear Lindsay talk about the positive future that we are working to build – both here in the villages and across the town.”
