The gift of time

WARRINGTON Voluntary Action is to stage a “volunteers week” from Monday, June 3 – with the theme of “the gift of time.”
They will be touring the town, asking people if they have any spare time to donate their skills and talents – and finding out what good work is already being done across the borough.
A spokesperson said: “We would like to know what kind of things are going on in Warrington and all the groups people are involved in.
“We want to know about them so we can recognise them, spread the work and offer the organisation support.”
All the information gathered will be put onto a database to enable WVA to target its services better in future.
On June 3, WVA will host an all-day drop-in session at The Gateway, in Sankey Street, where organisations can learn about what services are already available. Volunteering, funding, training, social media, business support…all will be covered.
The following day, the Orford Community Hub will be hosting a promotion event for the local community, recognising the value of volunteering.
On Wednesday, June 5, the official launch of the Warrington Partnership Volunteering Strategy will take place at The Gateway, when organisations will be invited to sign up for the strategy.
Thursday, June 6 will see WVA at the Centre at Birchwood Park talking to businesses about the benefits of working with the Third Sector and to their employees about gifting their time and skills to voluntary organisations.
The following day, the action switches to Victoria Square, Stockton Heath, were organisations will be able to find out about volunteering opportunities in the area.
