ADVANCE details of temporary road closures and other arrangements for Warrington Walking Day have been released by the borough council.
The big day is on Friday, June 28 this year and will effectively mean the inner town centre will be closed to all traffic from 7.30am to about 1pm.
As usual, the procession will start from the Town Hall lawn at 10.30 am and follow Sankey Street, Arpley Street, Museum Street, St Austin’s Lane and Friars Gate, where it will then turn right into Bridge Street to U-turn near Bridge Foot.
It will then return up Bridge Street to Market Gate and Horsemarket Street.
The central area of the town will be closed to traffic in three phases – first, Sankey Street and Winmarleigh Street from 7.30am, then from 8am, other town centre streets except Buttermarket Stret, Academy Street and Academy Way, will which close from 9am.
Access to the town centre will re-open at 1pm.
Businesses expecting deliveries during these times are advised to re-schedule, as access will not be granted.
Access to the market multi-story car park will only be available up to 9am. Anyone exiting the car park can do so straight onto the A49 which is part of the diversion route.
The multi-story car park at Golden Square will still be accessible all day via Midland Way
A council spokeswoman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience that these closures may cause but they are in place for the safety of all road users.”
