A HOME extension in Warrington has won an award for the best domestic extension in the North West in the regional building excellence awards organised by LABC – the body which represents local authority building control departments.
The award was given to the house in Baycliffe, Lymm because of its sensitive location, sloping site overlooking Lymm Dam, quality of design and build and onsite problem solving.
LABC chief executive Paul Everall said: “Our regional building excellence awards are an opportunity to celebrate good practice.
“All our winners demonstrated how attention to detail and a positive working relationship with building control departments can achieve high quality and sustainable buildings fit for the future.
“ Our awards are unique because they recognise how the work of local authority surveyors helps to improve building standards and boost sustainability and efficiency.
“This project was a deserved winner because of the technical challenges that were overcome in modernising this property in a sympathetic way to take account of its sensitive location and building constraints.”
Tony Gartside, building control manager at Warrington Borough Council said: “This was an outstanding development of superb design and elegance. The design went above and beyond the minimum requirements of the building regulations.”
