FEARS about the unpredictable English weather has driven the annual Warrington Horse Show out of the borough.
After monsoon conditions washed out last year’s event at Daresbury, organisers have decided to move to the permanent parkland of Tabley Park, near Knutsford for the event on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27.
Show spokeswoman Liz Sutton said: “After the cancellation of last year’s show, we had to do something.
“We could not find a more suitable location in the Warrington area so we decided to go to Tabley Park. It is only a mile from Junction 19 on the M6 and only 20 minutes from Warrington.
“If anyone can come up with a suitable site in the Warrington area for future years, they should contact us. But we have been searching for some time and have not found anywhere that can be considered anything like weather proof.”
Set against the background of Tabley House, Tabley Park is well known as the venue for point-to-point racing. Organisers believe it will make an ideal show site.
As usual, the show will offer national and international show jumping, showing classes, displays, a dog show, donkey rides for children, falconry displays, strong man competition, fancy dress parade, fun fair, trade stands and much more.
Warrington Horse Show was established in the 1880s and it is believed this year’s move will be the furthest it has travelled from the borough.
