Scouts to sleep rough at cardboard camp

0

SCOUTS, Cubs and Beavers at Warrington are to spend a night “sleeping rough” in cardboard boxes to raise money and raise awareness of the problems of homelessness.
Members of the 19th Warrington (Culcheth Methodist) Scout Group will take part in the “cardboard camp” over the weekend of June 29.
Money raised by the sponsored event will go to the scout group and to charities supporting the homeless.
The whole scout group will work together on the initiative, ranging from the Beaver Colony (aged 6-8) and Cub Pack (aged 8-10) to the Scout Troop (aged 10- 14).
They will be learning more about what can lead to homelessness and some of the other issues that can be associated, and learning about some of the charities that work to help homeless people.
The “cardboard camp” will take place at a local scout camp site.
Food will be provided from a “soup kitchen” run by the group’s leaders. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be raising money through sponsorship to take part in this, with proceeds going to help support a local Homeless Charity.
