Schools to be extended

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for extensions at two primary schools.
The development at Oakwood Avenue Primary will add three classrooms and enable the number of pupils at the school to be increased from 420 to 510. An additional six staff are likely to be employed.
Extensions at Brook Acre Primary, in Hilden Road, Fearnhead will increase the size of one classroom and the school library. But there will be no increase in staff or the number of pupils.
Both schemes were given the green light by the borough’s planning committee.
Oakwood Avenue Primary dates from the early 1900s and is struggling to cope with the demand for places. It is forecast that numbers of pupils will rise at least until 2016-17.
At Brook Acre Primary, the extensions will infill already partially enclosed areas.
