IT’S less than six months until the Rugby League World Cup comes to Warrington.
Organisers have now revealed that the match between New Zealand and Samoa at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday October 27 will kick-off at 6pm, and the quarter-final match on Sunday November 17 will start at 3pm.
Cllr Terry O’Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council, said: “It’s great that the kick-off times have been announced and as we are now into the six month countdown to the games we want as many people as possible in the town to get involved.”
There are plenty of ways to get involved with the tournament, including a photography competition to help promote Warrington as a tourist destination. Please email your entries to [email protected] by 5pm on Friday 17 May 2013.
There is “A Day to Remember” scheme which gives businesses the opportunity to provide local people and groups who may not otherwise be able to attend with tickets to see a local match.
Warrington Collegiate will also deliver WorldHost training free of charge to staff from local businesses, who wish to become ambassadors for the town.
Jan Souness, chair of the local RLWC2013 group, said: “We’re still looking for great photographs from the public that really capture the spirit of Warrington for our marketing materials. We want to engage local people and also attract those from far and wide and it could be a great way to showcase your work.”
