WARRINGTON Collegiate student Mike Yuile is celebrating after winning gold in the North West Regional heats of the UK Skills Plumbing competition.
The 22-year-old, from Stockton Heath, is now looking forward to the UK finals in Birmingham in November, which could lead to him representing the UK at the WorldSkills International Competition in Brazil next year.
He said: “I couldn’t believe it when they announced my name. This is my first competition but I’m determine to continue this winning streak in the national finals.”
Chris Jones, Lecturer in Plumbing who travelled with Mike to the competition at Burnley College, added: “I’m really proud of Mike. He kept his nerve in the face of really fierce competition and really focused on doing some fantastic work. His first place is richly deserved.”
