MORE than 250 books were given away at Warrington to help celebrate World Book Night.
The literary give-away was organised by community and well-being group Livewire, who run Warrington’s library service, in partnership with Culture Warrington and Warrington Wolves.
A wide range of titles were given away from various venues, including the Bus Station, Pyramid Arts Centre, Birchwood Leisure Centre and by Warrington Wolves players.
Fiona Barry, LiveWire’s community libraries manager said: “This year’s World Book Night has been incredibly successful, with LiveWire and Culture Warrington working together to gift books to people from all over Warrington. It’s wonderful to have national opportunities like this to raise the profile for books, libraries and reading for pleasure.”
World Book Night chief executive officer Julia Kingsford said: “Libraries are absolutely vital to communities and we’re incredibly proud that more than 2,000 across the country joined us to share their love of reading and celebrate the power of books.”
LiveWire’s participation in World Book Night was organised by The Reading Agency, a charity that supports libraries’ work with readers.
